Elizabeth Fitzgerald, MD

Elizabeth is a pediatric emergency department physician. She began her career in global health in 2005 as the medical director of a clinic serving the Mayan mountain region of Southern Belize. Since 2019 she has been the Director of Pediatric Global Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has spent a decade working with her Malawian colleagues to improve the care of hospitalized pediatric patients.

Nicole Burgess-Marsh

Nicole brings over 12 years of experience from the film and television industry, spanning television, stage, and voiceover work. She is also an author and publisher of a private magazine in Chapel Hill, NC. She is dedicated to amplifying diverse voices through storytelling and has consistently focused on creating meaningful narratives in both media production and community engagement.

Amy Kairys 

With a background in Clinical Psychology and Child Studies, Amy is dedicated to supporting children and their families.  Through local charities and schools, she has worked to combat child malnutrition, promote literacy, and teach STEM enrichment programs for girls.  Amy lives in Chapel Hill with her two teenagers and is honored to be a part of The Malawi Children’s Initiative.

Yamilette Reyes-Lima, P.E, MBA

With a background in Industrial Engineering and an MBA, Yami brings a rare combination of analytical rigor, business strategy, and creative storytelling to nonprofits and philanthropy-driven organizations. In June 2025, after 25 years, Yami left her career to dedicate herself fully to helping mission-driven organizations articulate and demonstrate the impact they're making through authentic storytelling, messaging, and visuals. She believes that a great story isn't just told—it should fuel impact, secure funding, and inspire change. By turning complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives, Yami helps organizations connect with donors, funders, and communities in ways that drive real results.
